Packaging is Everything
I’m the first one to admit that I’m a sucker for good packaging.
Nerds are good packaging. The Yorkie is good packaging. Fruit-tella is bad packaging.
All of these treats hold up on their own. You could take away their warm wrappers and leave them in the nude and—guess what? they’d still be a satisfying eat.
But then there’s candy that exists only because of the packaging. Case in point: these Lemon “Don’t take candy from strangers” sours. I don’t get the connection between lemons and strangers—eat candy that a stranger has given you and you’ll end up with a knife or cyanide in your throat....which is a feeling similar to eating lemons??? And what’s with the girl in the bunny ears? This is all probably very sexual…
But it doesn’t matter that there isn’t a connection, and the candy makers knew that when they put this candy box together. And they knew I would buy it. And I knew they knew that, which is why I couldn’t disappoint.
and yes, i know this digital camera has got to go...
