Maw Tarn is a kind of Thai desserts made specially for children in the former. It looks like a pot for containing of food but made of flour and dressed with a variety of palm sugar drops to make it more beautiful and appetizing.
Finally someone comes out and says it (albeit it in questionable English): regular food just doesn’t look as 'beautiful and appetizing' as sugar.
It took traveling to Thailand to realize I was not alone in this belief. I wonder if there's a country out there that believes that eating anything other than sugar is a waste of time...
